The state contributes too little of the funding for public K-12 schools

Pennsylvania ranks 42nd in the nation in the proportion of public K-12 school funding provided by the state.

Local property taxes would be lower if Pennsylvania provided a larger share like other states do.

Nothing.

WHAT WOULD KATHLEEN PRATT DO?

Let’s fix the broken funding system that places an imbalanced burden on local taxpayers. I will work to identify recurring special revenue streams at the state level that can be allocated to public education, and provide the potential for local tax relief for property owners. This won’t be easy, but the current system is unsustainable.
